Melanie Motorsports was founded in 2021 by Charlie Donaldson - a seasoned entrepreneur with a lifelong passion for dirt. Raised in the construction industry, Charlie's interest in the sport ignited at a young age.

Over the years, he built several thriving enterprises, among them being the Donaldson Grading Company INC. Despite his many successes and 15 years of sponsoring other racers, Charlie remained driven by his love for racing. In 2021, he established his own race team. Today, Melanie Motorsports remains an exciting venture that continues to fuel Charlie's enthusiasm for horsepower and dirt.

Melanie Motorsports consists of a very motivated team of passionate drivers and dedicated crew who races nationally and locally. Our team currently races Outlaw Karts throughout the United States and primarily in North Carolina. Most of the races can be viewed through live stream or on television.

Our mission is to continue to win races, expand our team, provide exposure to Melanie Motorsports, our sponsors, our drivers, and crew. We also aim to provide opportunities for young drivers to race in our safe, committed, tight-knit team.

STEVE DIETRICH

Shop Manager

Steve Dietrich is a veteran in the racing world, with over 35 years of experience under his belt. Starting out at a young age of nine in go-karts, he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with, winning numerous races and championships on both dirt and asphalt tracks all across North America. He then went on to work for some of the top teams in NASCAR, where he spent 20 years achieving multiple wins in all three national series. Throughout the years, Steve also continued to race and win in his own dirt modified. Today, he focuses his attention on the next generation of dirt racers, grooming his daughter Emily and all of the development drivers at Melanie Motorsports to become the best racers that they can be. Steve's passion for racing and his vast experience make him an invaluable asset to the Melanie Motorsports team.
